FAQ

It can take 24 hours after a student record is created before your password starts to work. Sit tight and try it again tomorrow. Only contact us if the problem persists for two days following your confirmation email.

File size is limited to 2MB for your photo and 5MB for ID document photo. The system only accepts image files like .JPG, .PNG or .TIFF. You won’t be able to upload a PDF or a photo embedded in a Word document. NOTE for iPhone users: Apple’s new .HEIC image file format will upload but we cannot view it. Please save the image as a .JPG before uploading.

Photos and ID are verified after submission. We will contact you if you need to resubmit or if we have questions once we have had a chance to review your submission.

Yes, you need to upload a recent photo along with proof of ID, even if you have studied here previously. If your old photo is locked and you’d like to replace it, email us at photoupload@mmu.ac.uk to request that and make sure to include your student ID and full name

Access to the photo uploader may begin during the admissions process and does not indicate acceptance to study at Manchester Metropolitan.

Yes, we only need it for proof of ID, however the photo should be identifiably you, not taken when you were a baby.

We need to see proof of ID for the name you have applied under. If your name has changed due to marriage, divorce or by deed poll, we’ll need to see a copy of that document. Do not use this uploader. Please email us a passport-style photo of yourself for the ID card PLUS a clear photo of your passport/license AND a photo of your marriage certificate/divorce decree/deed poll as proof of name change. Send these three photos to us along with your full name and MMU student ID number to photoupload@mmu.ac.uk.

If you are transgender and wish to change your name as you begin Uni, we will still need to see proof of ID under the name you applied with but we can change the name on the record after that. Please note that name changes take about a week to show up on the various systems here like timetabling and Moodle. If this applies to you, please email us with proof of ID and your photo for the ID card at personaldatachange@mmu.ac.uk. Make sure to include your MMU student ID number.

You won’t be able to use this system and completion of your enrolment will be delayed. In place of the passport or license, you’ll need to email us a passport-style photo of yourself for the ID card PLUS a clear photo of your birth certificate AND another form of photo ID such as a 6th Form ID card or the like. Send these three photos to us along with your full name and MMU student ID to photoupload@mmu.ac.uk

Images of passports and documents uploaded through this system are stored securely, used to verify identity and automatically deleted after 60 days. We keep the photo provided for your ID card for 6 years

Please allow 3 working days following photo and ID upload and online enrolment to process your ID card. Most undergraduate students collect their cards on campus. We mail cards to most Postgrad students. Check your Welcome Page for information. Distance Learning students may request a card by post at student_idcard@mmu.ac.uk. Please include your full name and student ID number.
